Five Turkish nationals who are suspected of belonging to a criminal ring and charged with drug trafficking and illegal possession of arms were led back to detention cells after testifying before a judge on Monday.
The case file drawn against them said the organization also ran other illegal activities such as arms trafficking, and migrant trafficking in Greece and Spain.
According to information, the defendants rejected the charges and claimed they are business people with legal activities. They were also quoted as saying that the cash police confiscated was absolutely legal and not the result of drug trafficking.
Apparently they mentioned that they had bought their villas under the Golden Visa residence permit program and had acquired political asylum in Greece as they are Güllenists who are persecuted in Türkiye.
