National Opera to end 2024/2025 season with four nights of ‘Rigoletto’ at Herod Atticus Odeon


Greece’s
National Opera will conclude its 2024-2025 season with a performances
of Guiseppe Verdi’s dark masterpiece “Rigoletto”, with
performances at the Herod Atticus Odeon at the end of July (27, 29,
30 and 31) as part of the Athens Epidaurus Festival.

The
conductor is Derrick Inouye, with Katerina Evangelatou as stage
director and Ion Kesoulis as revival director. The title role will be
performed by top Greek baritones Dimitri Platanias and Tassis
Christoyannis.

In
Rigoletto –one of the most popular operas in the repertoire–
Verdi transitions to a new chapter in his compositional career,
presenting a musical composition with a distinct mark and an
increased mood for experimentation. The shifts between lyrical and
dramatic scenes ensure a continuous flow of the plot at a high speed.
