Greece is set for a sunny and warm start to September, with temperatures expected to reach up to 36 degrees Celsius (97 F) in the first part of the week before cooling slightly, according to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY).
For Monday and Tuesday, skies will be generally clear across the country.
The highest temperatures are forecast for central and eastern mainland Greece, including Thessaly, with highs ranging from 33 to 36 C. Western Greece and the islands will be slightly cooler, with temperatures in the low 30s.
A slight drop in temperature is expected to begin on Thursday. Moderate northwesterly winds of 3 to 5 Beaufort are forecast for most sea regions.
