METLEN Joins FTSE 100 Weeks After London Stock Exchange Debut

The Greek energy and metals company METLEN will officially join the U.K.’s prestigious FTSE 100 index, a milestone achieved just weeks after its debut on the London Stock Exchange.

In a social media post, Evangelos Mytilineos, the company’s chairman and CEO, hailed the inclusion as a “new chapter” for the firm.

“This achievement reflects the confidence of international investors in our vision and our ability to generate sustainable growth worldwide,” Mr. Mytilineos said.

METLEN’s inclusion in the index of Britain’s largest listed companies will be effective from Sept. 22.

The company, which listed in London on Aug. 4, secured its position with a market capitalization of approximately €6.71 billion.

It is the first Greek-headquartered company to join the index while trading in euros.

During the quarterly index reshuffle, the luxury brand Burberry also entered the FTSE 100, while homebuilder Taylor Wimpey and Unite Group were moved to the FTSE 250 index.
