Mitsotakis: Minimum wage increases to 920 euros from 650, tax cuts and 550,000 new jobs

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Friday referred to the government’s work in supporting the workers’ income in a post on Instagram.

In a video he shared, Mitsotakis highlighted the increase in the minimum wage.

“Let’s take a look at what we have delivered for workers over the last years,” Mitsotakis said, adding:

“An increase in the minimum wage from 650 euros in 2019 to 920 euros today. A reduction in unemployment by 10 percentage points, meaning more than 550,000 new jobs. Zero income tax for young workers under the age of 25 and tax cuts for all, with an emphasis on families with children. The unfreezing of seniority-based wage increases after 12 years, which translates into additional wage increases. The restoration of collective bargaining agreements. A reduction in social security contributions by 5.4 percentage points. The extension of maternity benefits in the private sector from six to nine months.”

The prime minister concluded: “Perhaps most importantly: the digital card for nearly two million employees, ensuring that the actual hours you work are properly recorded. These are certainly not insignificant achievements. At a time when you will hear many easy slogans and numerous impractical proposals, we respond with our work.”
